Purnululu National Park/Bungle Bungles

One word - "Stunning"

We make no apologies. This post will have a few more photos and videos than normal. We could put 1,000 on and still not do this area justice.

Leaving the van at the caravan park close to the highway it was 53 kilometres (90 minutes), of, less than smooth, gravel/rock/water/corrugations into the National Park. The plan - do the Northern section on day 1, overnight at the Savannah Lodge and do the southern section on day 2. Then the road out again.

The drive in and out again. 106 kilometres of fun 4x4. Fun for me that is, not so much for Leonie. 3 hrs. in total. 14 water crossings with some steep in and out. As I said FUN..

Day 1 - Northern section

First glimpses

Mimi Palms Gorge
Noted

Echidna Chasm with the sun creating a midday light show
The tenacity of nature. Plants everywhere growing out of the rock

The rough and the gentle
Another rock just doesn't do it justice

Day 2 - Southern section

The "DOMES"

Lost for words!!!!

In the wet season we would be 3 metres under water standing here

More Domes
Shapes and colours just overload the senses

Cathedral Gorge deserves a section all to itself.

With this video I have tried to give a sense of the size of the cavern. I've failed. It's huge.

Dark colour denotes where the water fall is in the "Wet" (For perspective note the people rear right)

That's all folks. We hope we have we have managed, in some way, to convey the beauty and magnitude of this most amazing place.

Next stop - Mimbi Caves.
