Kalgoorlie - A town built on Gold

The 1893 gold rush resulted in the discovery of the Golden Mile, one of the richest gold deposits in the world.

The "Super Pit" or at least some of it.

In 2019 KCGM celebrated its 30th anniversary and poured its 50,000th bar of gold, bringing the total produced from the Golden Mile to over 60 million ounces in the 120 years since the lease was first pegged

We toured a couple of the museums, had dinner at the brewery and just for something completely different we did a tour of the last operating house of ill repute in Kalgoorlie, the "Questa Casa" or "Pink House", the only original brothel left in Hay Street and the oldest in Australia, which started business in the 1890s. The current Madam (owner for 30years) was informative and and at times very funny.

The trucks here are HUGE. 300-400 tonnes capacity.

And the machine to load them... Even bigger.

Our visit to the mining museum.

I am here for the tour only - Honest....

Next Stop - "The Nullarbor" to Ceduna in SA.

Thanks for following.
