Stuff that's happened or might happen

For the first section of our Southern discovery tour we based ourselves in the great little town of Denmark. We had a camp right on the water by the Wilson Inlet.

Unfortunately the weather has turned against us a little with rain and wind following our adventures. Beware of what you ask for... 6 months without rain and now it won't leave us alone.

This blog includes some great sights and one of the most challenging walks we have done on our trip. Not as much clambering over rocks but 2000 metres constantly going up. And then we had to do it all downhill again (no fun for the knees).

Oh and we also found a brewery named just for us....

It had our name so extensive "Quality Control testing" was in order.

Enjoy.

Elephant Rocks

As the name implies, from certain angles they did look like elephants playing in the surf.
The colours are spectacular

Valley of the Giants

And they were very very big.

No less impressive when they fall
In sections the walkway is 40mts plus off the ground.
Not for the faint hearted. And, yes the walkway did move.
Sartorial elegance personified...

The "Gap" and "Natural Bridge"

You guessed it... Natural Bridge
The weather is getting a little colder and wetter.

Where's the fishing gear when you need it????

The "Granite Skywalk"

Signs kept us aware of our progress. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Took me ages to get through this with my Swiss Army Knife :)

For those with shorter legs things got very difficult at the 1800mtr mark.

The view was worth it.

And then we had to go down again..

Next stop - Esperance and Cape Le Grand National Park

6 days in Perth to explore and do some house-keeping.

Had some minor issues on the van attended too, visited Kings Park, Botanic Gardens and Penguin Island Marine Park and generally had a good look around.

Also found a great little cidery in the Perth Hills (visited twice) and one of the most quirky wineries I've visited in a long while.

Great city with a lot going for it. Easy to see what $$$ billions in mining royalties buys you. Would not move here but would also not complain if forced to move here.

Part view of Perth across the Swan River
Perth Botanical Gardens. Would rival Sydney's in size and beauty.
Flora on display was amazing in variety and colours
Penguin Island
"Little" or "Fairy" Penguin rookery on Penguin Island
Just kicking back
There is also a colony of Sea Lions on Seal Island, near Penguin Island.
We waved... He waved back
2 Sea Lion pups playing
Dolphin mum and calf. Just 2 of the thousands of animals that call the marine park home
And.... A Pelican breeding area as well
You've got to love Pelicans
In 7th heaven. Afternoon tea with scones and cream at the cidery
And..... Another brewery :)

Next stop Denmark near Albany on the South Coast

Thousands of limestone pillars that rise up to 4m out of the yellow sand. Formed over millions of years by sea shells that were broken down into limestone rich sands that were carried inland by wind to form high, mobile dunes. Erosion over the millennia did the rest.

Ever where we go on this trip there is yet another location that just amazes us.

Next stop Perth
