Stuff that's happened or might happen

Hi all,

This post is a little bit longer but to be truthful it could have been twice as long and we still could not have represented what a fantastic place we have just been to.

1 million acres of cattle station in North Eastern Northern Territory with 1,000klms of 4x4 tracks through the Australian bush interspersed with water holes, a river, gorges and geographical features .

13oklms of dirt road with the quintessential corrugations and water crossings to get there so your average grey nomad is discouraged.

No power, no phone reception and no internet - so living off the grid - Bliss. Showers that you had to light the wood fire for but gave you an uninterrupted view of the stars through the non existent roof.

But, importantly it did have a bar.

Enjoy.......

Another 2 locations just out of Alice Springs in the West MacDonnell Ranges. More walking.....

Thousands of these little buggers everywhere..
Water is a lot cleaner than it looks in this photo.

Left our southern sojourn and now on our way north. Overnighted at Banka Banka Cattle Station (log fire/damper you get the picture) and tonight at the Daly Waters Pub (live music and a feed of barramundi).

Next few days will be interesting for Leonie... We are heading bush. 200klms East then 130klms of dirt North to Lorella Springs Cattle Station.

A 1 million acre cattle station where you are pretty much able to do whatever you want. The property goes as far as the coast with 4x4 tracks, fishing spots and swimming holes galore.

Not sure how long we will be staying.

No phone connection or interweb so no news is good news.

In one word - Stunning

"We did the Rim Walk" = Now I don't want to make too big a deal about this but for 2 "Older Farts" this was not an insignificant achievement. 500 steps up the rock face to start/6klms/3hrs 45mins in total over broken ground/more steps up and down through the walk and not a coronary between us. Two days later and we have only just stopped patting ourselves on the back.

Hard to see but this is the start of the 500 steps
Look Erika and Peter - They do exist :)

Leonie being terribly brave
A fossil amongst the rocks
The "Garden of Eden" water hole. lots of steps down and you guessed it, Lots of steps back up again.

BONUS - Dingoes howling at night at the caravan park to help us get to sleep.

***Heading back Nth again next, back to Alice Springs and onward.
